Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) |
The Association of Resident Doctors, Lagos University Teaching Hospital
(LUTH) chapter, Idi-Araba, Lagos, will on Friday 6th September, 2013
commence strike in solidarity with house officers (interns) and some
members of the association who were not paid salary for a period of
about six month on the average.
Dr Emeka Ugwu, President of the association, LUTH chapter, confirmed the
strike in an interview with him, stating that the association is ready
to go the whole length in ensuring that its members and interns are duly
paid their wages. He further affirmed that all efforts embarked to
resolve the situation amicably had since fallen on deaf or insensitive
hears.
It should be stated that interns had earlier proceeded on an indefinite strike which started on Monday 2nd September 2013.
The management of LUTH had since stated that the lapses is actually due to the new Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS).
We hope this is resolved promptly for the benefit of our dear citizens seeking health care at the institution.
