The West African Health Organisation (WAHO) was formed in 1987 when the Heads of State and Government from all fifteen countries in the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) adopted the Protocol creating the organisation. The countries are:

In partnership with Young Professionals Internship Programme (YPIP), a programme to equip young professionals with knowledge skills and experience for effective management of health problems in West Africa will commence in January 2014. They hereby invite applicates who are citizens from member countries of ECOWAS to participate.
